SETC online ticket booking

State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) of Tamil Nadu is likely to offer online bus ticket reservation facility soon.

Pallavan Transport Consultancy Services (PTCS) in KK Nagar, is currently doing a feasibility study for introducing the online reservation facility.

Currently, tickets for SETC tamil nadu state government buses can be booked only through its computerised reservation counters across the state, including T Nagar, Broadway, Koyambedu and Tambaram in Chennai.

The Tamilnadu state transport corporation operates 950 long-route buses for a distance of more than 250 km within Tamil Nadu and several destinations in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Puduchery. It has about 50 computerised reservation centres across the State.

SETC should increase the number of counters at the reservation centres, particularly during festival times. There is only one counter in T.Nagar and hence people sometimes have to wait for long hours during festivals like Deepavali and Pongal.

I read this information in Times of India, Chennai. For the latest information visit the official website of Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation www.tnstc.in

Update 3rd October 2011: Online booking is now available for select routes. Visit www.tnstc.in for details.
