VaNakkam! PPPindia brings this recipe to mark Ganesh festival, the Lord with elephant head.
Ingredients |
Raw Rice Flour | 500 gms |
Molasses brown(Jaggery) | 400 gms - Finely powdered |
Coconut(Grated) | 50 gms |
Raw Green gram | 20 gms |
Sesame seeds(White) | 20 gms |
Cardamom | 4 seeds - Smashed |
Ghee | 2Teaspns |
Method |
To prepare Raw Rice flour :
Soak Raw Rice in water for about 2 hours, Drain and remove the water,and spread it on a dry cloth. Grind the dried rice, to a fine powder. Gather the Flour in soft cotton cloth and steam it for about 15-20 minutes.
Note : You can also use raw rice flour sold in shops, by steaming it for about 20 minutes
Fry Green gram, Sesame seeds in ghee until it turns golden brown in colour. Add 3 tbsp of water to Molasses brown(Jaggery) and bring it to a boil by stirring continously over a medium flame(preferable leave it over a low flame).
Meanwhile, Collect the flour in a shallow vessel and break all the small flour balls found. Add the fried ingredients and mix it well. Add the boiling jaggery to it and mix thoroughly and make it into desired shapes each of which is about 10-20 gms. Collect the Kozhukattai's in soft cotton cloth and cook for about 15 minutes.
