Rasam
To Prepare Rasam Powder
Ingredients
Black Pepper (Dried) | 100 gms |
Cummin Seeds | 100 gms |
Coriander Seeds | 25 gms |
Heat a bowl and fry the above ingredients one by one until its colour changes. Don't use oil.
Grind well the fried ingredients until it becomes coarse powder.
Collect this powder in an air tight container and can be readily used for preparing various types of Rasam.
To prepare Rasam
Ingredients |
Tamarind (Ripe) | 25 gms |
Water (Plain) | 200
ml (preferably warm water) |
Salt(Powdered) | 1 tablespoonful |
Tomato | 1
No (small size)- smashed` |
Garlic | 2 cloves smashed |
Coriander Leaves | a handful(finely chopped) |
Mustard Seeds | 1 teaspoonful |
Asafoetida | a pinch |
Red Chillies(Dried) | 4 nos |
Curry Leaves | 5-6 leaves |
Cooking Oil | 1 tablespoonful |
Method |
Soak tamarind and salt in water for about 10-15 minutes. Smash and extract the juice, filter it and add tomato to it.
Add one tablespoonful of Rasam powder, garlic and coriander leaves to the above extract.
Heat Oil, allow mustard seeds to spatter, add asafoetida, red chillies and curryleaves to it.Transfer the above extract and bring it to a boil.
