To Prepare Sakkere Pongal
Ingredients |
Raw
Rice (Uncooked) |
500 gms |
Water | 1120 ml |
Greengram (Broken) |
100 gms |
Molasses
Brown (Vellam) |
400 gms |
Ghee | 150 gms |
Cardamom | 4 nos |
Cashewnuts | 15 nos |
Raisin | 10 nos |
Method |
Soak Rice for about one hour. Fry Greengram over a bowl until it turns colour.
Add 1000 ml of water to the soaked Rice,Greengram and cook it together over a pressure Heat ghee over a pan and fry Cardamom, Cashewnuts and Raisin and keep it aside. Dissolve Molasses Brown in about 120 ml of water and bring it to a boil.
Great care has to be taken to add proportionate Molasses Brown solution to the Rice. Thus, add it to the cooked rice mixture little by little and mix it.
Add the fried cardamom,cashewnuts and raisin alongwith the ghee.
